Privacy Policy

This policy explains how Returnit handles personal information on www.returnit.co. It is written in plain language for a South African audience, with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) in mind. The cofounders should review the TODOs before this page is treated as final legal text.

Returnit provides a returns recovery app for Shopify merchants in South Africa, and a WooCommerce pilot at app.returnit.co.

Information this website collects

If you use the contact form, or the “see if Returnit is right for your store” questions, you choose what to send us.

That can include your name, email address, company, phone number, your message, and answers about your store (platform, order volume, how you handle returns, and similar). We email that submission to hello@returnit.co so we can reply. This repository sends the form through the site’s email API.

Information the product uses

The Shopify app and the WooCommerce pilot process return requests so merchants can decide an outcome.

On Shopify, a customer can start a return on WhatsApp or from their store account and submit the item, the reason, and photo or video evidence. The merchant reviews that information and approves the resolution and the disposition. On WooCommerce, the customer starts from My Account on a hosted form at app.returnit.co — not WhatsApp. Order details needed to identify the return come from the store the merchant has connected.

We use the information to provide the website and the product described above.

Contact-form messages are emailed to hello@returnit.co. Installing the Shopify app means Shopify is part of that install. TODO: Confirm the full list of operators, including the email delivery service, any WhatsApp provider, and hosting for app.returnit.co. TODO: Confirm whether personal information is transferred outside South Africa.

Your choices under POPIA

You can ask to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you, or object to processing, by emailing us.

Email hello@returnit.co. You can also complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa (inforegulator.org.za).

Cookies

The website code in this repository does not load a third-party analytics or advertising tag.

TODO: Confirm whether the Vercel project, a tag manager, or the Shopify app adds cookies that this repository does not show.

Children

This website is for merchants. It is not directed at children.
